Youngstown, Ohio — For the sixth time in the last seven years, Youngstown State's bowling team has posted one of the top six grade-point averages in the country.
The Penguins recorded a combined 3.720 GPA during the 2025-26 academic year, which tied for the sixth-best mark in the nation. YSU earned the NTCA All-Academic Scholar Team award for the eighth straight year and for the ninth time in its 10-year history as a program.
Individually, seven Penguins were named to the NTCA All-Academic Team for maintaining a GPA of at least 3.4 during the academic year. YSU's student-athletes on the list included Liv Baskin, Kara Beissel, Amy Chrzanowski, Kaitlyn Greenaway, Leyna Kratzer, Amber Spicer and Gianna Varano.
To qualify for the NTCA All-Academic Scholar Team award, programs must have maintained a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or higher during the 2025–26 academic year.
