The Brian, Charlotte, Jersey, Beau Gorby Family Championship Cross Country Course, named in honor of YSU longtime cross country and track and field coach Brian Gorby and his family, opened in 2024.

The Gorby Family Course, located at the MetroParks Farm near the Canfield Fairgrounds, was designed to meet Division I NCAA Division-I Championship specifications. 

The course features a 30-foot width throughout all turns on flat/fast grass, crushed limestone/wood chip terrain to efficiently manage large race fields. This is an exceptional spectator course as runners loop by the start/finish area on a 1K, 2K, 3K permanent loop. The wide starting line can comfortably accommodate 40-plus starting boxes. 

Youngstown State hosted the Inaugural YSU Alumni Cross Country Meet on Sept. 21, 2024.
