Alliance, Ohio - Lukas Lang's season-best pole vault of 5.21m at the Mount Union Last Chance meet on Thursday moved him into the top 48 in the NCAA East Region.
Lang entered the meet with a season-best mark of 5.05m but was able to clear 5.21m as the event was moved indoors.
In total, YSU won four events at the Mount Union meet. Brayden Green won the men's triple jump, Ainsley Hamsher won the women's pole vault while McKinley Fielding ran away with the 1,500m race. Lang also took first in the pole vault.
Hamsher cleared a season-best height of 4.13m to help solidify her spot in the NCAA East top 48. Kaitlyn Eger finished second with a mark of 3.93m. The women's vault was also moved indoors because of weather.
Green won his event with a leap of 14.81m. In the men's shot put, Jaden Kirkwood was second (15.54m), Alan Austin was second in the men's discus with a career-best throw of 53.79m. In the men's pole vault, Jak Rovan was second at 4.98m. Emmanuel Asabere was third in the men's long jump (6.91m).
Fielding ran a winning time of 4:23.77 to win by more than 15 seconds in the 1,500m. Trenton Shutters competed in the 800m and posted a time of 1:59.11.
With the final competitions of the outdoor campaign set for this weekend across the country, Lang, Hamsher, Eger, Sage Vavro (steeplechase) and Micah Mitchell (110m hurdles) are set to advance to the NCAA East Prelims in Lexington, Ky., later this month.
