Philadelphia, Pa. – Youngstown State distance runners Jenna Razavi and McKinley Fielding broke long-standing school records to highlight the men's and women's track and field performances at the Penn Relays held at Franklin Field.
In near perfect conditions on Thursday evening, Razavi was the first to set a school record.
Running in the 3,000m steeplechase, she clocked a time of 10:30.73, which broke the previous mark held by Samantha Hamilton of 10:36.44 that had stood since May 5, 2012. Razavi's previous best time in the steeplechase was 10:48.57.
Less than an hour later, it was Fielding's turn to set a school mark. In the 5,000m, she clocked a time of 16:15.79 to break Hamilton's mark of 16:34.44 that had stood since March 31, 2012. Fielding's best time was 16:39.66 which she set last April.
This spring, Fielding has set school records in the 1,500m, the 5,000m and the 10,000m.
The distance running events were held on Thursday while all other Penguins were in action on Friday.
