Slippery Rock, Pa. – Youngstown State's Elle Pearsall and Brady Sterbling earned event wins for the Youngstown State women's track and field team on Thursday at the SRU John Papa Invitational at the Lennox Track.
Pearsall won the 100m dash with a time of 12.18 seconds. In the 5,000m it was Sterbling who took first place clocking a time of 18:53.70.
Laylah Hayes was second in the 400m with a time of 58.78 seconds. In the 1,500m, YSU had the second and third place performers. In second place was Megan Stafford with a time of 4:47.24 while Molly Hopple was third at 4:48.03. In the 5,000m, Lauren Runion took third at 18:53.70.
Placing third in the javelin was India Bailey with a throw of 36.83m.
For the men, Jaden Kirkwood placed third in the shot put with a throw of 16.54m.
The Penguins are also competing at the Virginia Challenge and the Wake Forest Invitational this week.
