Greensboro, N.C. — Youngstown State remained unbeaten at the 2026 Stallings Invitational after going 5-0 on Saturday in five traditional matches. The three-day event is being hosted by North Carolina A&T at Triad Lanes.
The Penguins fought through low scores on Saturday but were still able to win their five head-to-head matches by an average of 110.4 pins. The closest decision of the day was in the opening, which YSU beat No. 24 Bryant 861-839. The Penguins followed with a 904-856 win over No. 22 Duquesne and a 897-814 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore before running away from Norfolk State, 905-604. YSU's best set of the day came in match five, a 1,025-891 win over FDU, to extend its winning streak to 11 matches.
Amber Mason was YSU's top individual finisher in 17th place with a 961 set, and Kara Beissel and Liv Baskin were within nine pins of her and finished 19th and 21st, respectively.
The Penguins qualified fourth, and they will take on the tournament hosts to start the best-of-seven Baker bracket on Sunday at 8:25 a.m.
