Boston, Mass. - McKinley Fielding set the school record in the mile on Friday to highlight the men's and track and field distance runners who competed at the two-day John Thomas Terrier Classic at BU's Track and Tennis Center.
Fielding clocked a time of 4:42. 87 to smash her previous time of 4:48 in the event. In her mile debut, freshman Karis McElhaney clocked a top time of 5:02.59. YSU's quartet had a strong showing in the 5,000m all running between 17:35.90 and 17:44.15.
In heat four of the race, Lillian Katsaras won at 17:35.90 while Megan Stafford was right behind at 17:41.88 and Molly Hopple clocked a 17:42.86. Maggie Hopple in her indoor debut in the 5K had a time of 17:44.15.
The men took the track on Saturday after the women's race were held on Friday.
In the 800m Invite race, Trenton Shutters clocked a personal-best time of 1:50.84. His previous best was 1:51.41. In the 800m, Jacob Puhalla ran a 1:58.08.
In the 3000m, Shingleton placed second in his heat with a career-best time of 8:15.97. That time moves him into eighth in school history. Josh Jones clocked an 8:30.06 while Noah Johnson was just behind at 8:30.49.
In the 5,000m, Owen Brady clocked a time of 14:44.70 while Beau Gorby finished out the meet with a time of 14:56.32.
