Prajunpanich Matches Single-Round School Record as Penguins Win YSU Kickoff

Boardman, Ohio -- Junior Neeranuch Prajunpanich matched the school record for lowest 18-hole performance to earn medalist honors and lead the Youngstown State women's golf team to victory at the YSU Kickoff on Monday at Mill Creek Golf Course.

Prajunpanich fired a career-low and bogey-free round of 64 to finish at eight under par and claim medalist honors by 11 strokes. The Samut Prakan, Thailand, native matched the single-round school record of 64 that was set by Katlyn Shutt (2017-21) at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational on Sept. 4, 2018. Prajunpanich carded 11 pars, six birdies and an eagle on the par-five No. 7 on Mill Creek's North Course during her historic round.

With two individual victories in the first two tournaments of the 2025-26 season, Prajunpanich has now also matched the school record of eight career tournament wins. She joins Emily Dixon (2014-16) as just the second player in program history to earn eight tournament wins as a Penguin.

As a team, the Penguins finished with a single-round total of 292 to finish at four over par and defeat runner-up Westminster by 50 shots. The Titans finished with a team total of 342 while Grove City placed third with a 376. Franciscan finished fourth with a 392 while Thiel rounded out the field with a 402.

Maddi Shoults finished as the individual runner-up with a three-over-par round of 75 that featured eight pars and four birdies. Valentina Peña Anaya placed third with a single-round 76 that included 11 pars, a birdie on the par-three No. 8 and an eagle on the par-five No. 15.

Sofia Perez Escarcena concluded the event tied for fourth with a five-over-par 77 that featured nine pars and three birdies. Playing as individual, Adena Rugola also tied for fourth with a 77 that included eight pars, two birdies and an eagle on the par-five No. 18.

Sophomore Bella Saur placed seventh on the individual leaderboard with a single-round 80 that included eight pars and birdies at No. 7 and No. 15. In her second collegiate tournament, individual and redshirt freshman Matilyn Zines finished tied for eighth with a round of 81 that featured seven pars and a pair of birdies.

Playing as an individual and making her collegiate debut, redshirt freshman Maureen Burns finished tied for 13th with a round of 89 that featured a birdie on the par-four No. 17.

Youngstown State will continue its fall schedule on Sept. 8-9 with the Total Athlete Collegiate at the Country Club of the North in Xenia, Ohio.
