Youngstown State sophomore women's golf student-athlete Neeranuch Prajunpanich will compete as an individual at the three-day NCAA Columbus Regional, which is scheduled to begin on Monday at the Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
Prajunpanich became the first individual in program history to qualify for the NCAA Regionals after winning individual medalist honors at the 2025 Horizon League Women's Golf Championship on April 21 at Mission Resort + Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. The Penguins previously competed as a team at regionals in 2015 and 2021 after earning the Horizon League's automatic bid.
Prajunpanich finished with a three-round score of 222 (78-71-73) at the HL Championship to pull away for an impressive seven-shot individual victory and earn Horizon League All-Tournament Team honors for the second straight season. The sophomore has earned five first-place finishes in 2024-25 to match the school record for wins in a campaign. She joined Jessica Lundblad (1997-98) as the only two players in program history to win five events in a season. Prajunpanich is YSU's first individual league champion since Katlyn Shutt claimed medalist honors at the 2021 league tournament.
Prajunpanich has competed in all 11 tournaments and 28 rounds for the Penguins this season while averaging a team-best 74.1 strokes per round with a low round of 69. The sophomore was named the Under Armour Horizon League Women's Golfer of the Week on three occasions during the spring campaign. Prajunpanich has earned seven top 10 finishes while finishing in the top 26 at all 11 events. She was named the Horizon League Women's Golfer of the Year and selected to the All-Horizon League First Team on April 24.
The NCAA Regional field features 72 teams (including automatic qualifiers) and 36 individuals (including automatic qualifiers) not on those teams for participation at one of the six regional sites. Each regional site includes 12 teams and six individuals (not on one of the selected teams). Five teams and the leading individual not on an advancing team from each regional site shall advance to the national championship from May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
Prajunpanich is scheduled to tee off on No. 10 at the OSU Scarlet Course at 9:50 a.m. on Monday. She will be paired with Michigan's Mara Janess and Bradley's Jillian Cosler. Teams, players within teams, and individual competitors will be re-paired according to round one scores after the first round and by 36-hole cumulative scores after the second round.
