Richmond, Ky. -- Neeranuch Prajunpanich claimed individual medalist honors to lead the Youngstown State women's golf team to its fourth tournament title of the season at the two-day EKU Colonel Classic, which concluded on Tuesday from The University Club at Arlington.
YSU recorded team scores of 310 and 306 in the first two rounds, respectively, on Monday to sit one shot behind host Eastern Kentucky in second place heading into the third and final session on Tuesday. The Penguins closed the event with a 304 in the final round on Tuesday to finish with a three-round team total of 920 and earn their fourth tournament victory of the 2025-26 season. EKU was just one shot back of YSU to finish as the runner-up with a 921 while Butler placed third with a 925.
Prajunpanich earned her third individual victory of the season with a three-round score of 221 (72-75-74). The junior has now set a new program record with her ninth career tournament win. Prajunpanich eclipsed the previous mark of eight career wins, which was previously held by Emily Dixon (2014-16). The Samut Prakan, Thailand, native has now finished in the top five on the individual leaderboard in seven of the eight stroke-play events she has played this season. Prajunpanich's even-par 72 in the opening round on Monday featured 16 pars and a birdie on the par-four No. 6.
Maddi Shoults placed third with a three-round total of 226 (79-75-72) to collect her fourth top 10 finish of the season. The senior moved up five spots on the individual leaderboard after firing an even-par 72 in the final round on Tuesday that included 14 pars and a pair of birdies.
Valentina Peña Anaya finished tied for ninth with a three-round 232 (78-76-78) to record her third top 10 performance of the season. Playing as an individual, Maureen Burns finished tied for 33rd with a three-round score of 242 (85-78-79).
Sofia Perez Escarcena finished in a tie for 35th with a three-round total of 243 (81-80-82) while Matilyn Zines tied for 38th with a 244 (83-81-80). Bella Saur concluded the tournament with a three-round 251 (79-83-89) while playing as an individual.
EKU's Claira Ramsey Eden finished one stroke behind Prajunpanich with a 222 (77-72-73) earn individual runner-up honors.
Youngstown State will continue the spring portion of its 2025-26 season on April 5-6 when it plays host to the YSU Spring Invitational at Trumbull Country Club in Warren, Ohio.
