Penguins Play Host to YSU Spring Invitational on Sunday and Monday

The Youngstown State women's golf team will continue its spring schedule on Sunday and Monday by hosting the YSU Spring Invitational at Trumbull Country Club in Warren, Ohio.

The Penguins are coming off their fourth tournament victory of the 2025-26 season earlier this week at the EKU Colonel Classic in Richmond, Ky. The Guins collected their fourth team title of the 2025-26 season and their first during the spring portion of the campaign. YSU has now won at least four tournaments in four consecutive seasons.

Neeranuch Prajunpanich earned her third individual win of the season with a three-round score of 221 (72-75-74). The junior has now set a new program record with her ninth career tournament win. Prajunpanich eclipsed the previous mark of eight career wins, which was previously held by Emily Dixon (2014-16). The Samut Prakan, Thailand, native has now finished in the top five on the individual leaderboard in seven of the eight stroke-play events she has played this season.

For her performance at the EKU Colonel Cassic, Prajunpanich was named the Under Armour Horizon League Women's Golfer of the Week for the second time this season on Thursday. She collected the fifth weekly Horizon League honor of her career after earning Golfer-of-the-Week recognition three times as a sophomore in 2024-25.

The tournament field at the YSU Spring Invitational will feature five other schools including La Salle, Le Moyne, Mercyhurst, Saint Joseph's and Western Illinois. In addition, Notre Dame will have players competing as individuals only.

The teams are currently scheduled to play 18 holes on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday in the two-day, 36-hole event. Tee times for Sunday's first round are currently slated to run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. while Monday's final round is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The course will play approximately 5,899 yards and par is 72. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat through links posted on YSUsports.com.

Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced that YSU's six-player lineup will feature Prajunpanich, Maddi Shoults, Sofia Perez Escarcena, Valentina Peña Anaya, Matilyn Zines and Maureen Burns. In addition, Adena Rugola and Bella Saur will also be competing as individuals for the Penguins.

Trumbull Country Club is located at 600 Golf Drive NE, Warren, OH 44483
