Ashland, Ohio – The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field team won five events during a successful appearance at the Ashland Alumni Open.
Winning events were Keegan Barnette (men's steeplechase), Carly Hall (women's 1,500m), Ainsley Hamsher (women's pole vault), Daisha Decree (women's long jump) and the women's 4x100m relay.
Decree won the long jump with a leap of 5.79m and placed second in the triple jump with leap of 11.32m. Hamsher won the pole vault with a clearance of 4.11m while Melana Schumaker was fourth at 3.88m. Hall won the 1500m with a time of 4:44.84 while Megan Stafford was second at 4:46.41.
Barnette won steeple by more than 10 seconds with a time of 9:20.67.
In the women's relays, YSU won the 4x100m relay with a time of 47.71 seconds and took third in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:05.39.
The Penguins had a multitude of second-place performances.
Clancy Chrystal was second with a time of 14.59 seconds in the 110m hurdles. Grace Rhoades was second in the 5,000m with a time of 17:49.45. Trenton Shutters was second in the 400m with a time of 48.18 seconds. Krista Perry was second in the 43.81m in the discus elite
Garret Tiller was third in the 200m with a time of 21.81 seconds and fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.80 seconds. Lukas Lang was third in the pole vault at 5.00m. Aaron Berardinelli was third in the long jump with a leap of 6.67m. Connor Durig took third in the high jump with a height of 2.02m.
Ryan Tetrick was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 15.02m.
