Sophomore Neeranuch Prajunpanich claimed medalist honors to lead the Youngstown State women's golf team to its fourth victory of the season at Northern Kentucky's The Julie, which concluded on Tuesday from Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.
The Penguins finished with a two-round team total of 621 to win the tournament by eight shots over runner-up Lindenwood. YSU posted a team score of 317 in the opening round on Monday before recording a 304 in Tuesday's second and final session. Youngstown State and Lindenwood were tied for first place following the first round of competition.
The Guins collected their fourth team victory of the 2024-25 season and their first during the spring portion of the campaign. YSU has now won at least four tournaments in three consecutive seasons.
Prajunpanich finished atop the individual leaderboard with a two-round score of 151 (78-73) to earn her third first-place finish of the season. The sophomore has now recorded five top 10 finishes in eight events played in 2024-25. Prajunpanich's two-over-par 73 in the final round on Tuesday featured 14 pars and a birdie on the par-four No. 13.
Lizzie Saur was one shot back of her teammate in second place with a two-round total of 152 (78-74) to earn a career-best finish and pick up her second top 10 finish of the season. The senior's final-round 74 included 14 pars and a birdie on the par-four No. 18.
Sofia Perez Escarcena finished tied for 14th with a two-round 159 (81-78). The freshman notched a birdie on the par-four No. 6 during the opening round before turning in back-to-back birdies on No. 2 and No. 3 during the final session.
Maddi Shoults finished tied for 20th with a two-round score of 160 (81-79). The junior recorded a birdie on the par-four No. 9 during the first round of action. Valentina Peña Anaya finished tied for 34th with a two-round total of 164 (80-84). The freshman carded birdies at No. 1 and No. 16 during the second round of play.
Playing as individuals, Bella Saur finished with a two-round 172 (91-81), Sophia Rivera had a 180 (86-94) and Taylor Morrone posted rounds of 93 and 100.
IU Indy placed third behind Lindenwood with a two-round team total of 632 while Green Bay and Purdue Fort Wayne each recorded a 633 to finish tied for fourth.
Youngstown State will continue its spring schedule on April 6-7 when it plays host to the YSU Spring Invitational at Avalon Lakes Golf Course in Warren, Ohio.
