Sophomore Valentina Peña Anaya of the Youngstown State women's golf team has been named the Under Armour Horizon League Women's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Thursday.

Peña Anaya, the native of Mexico City, Mexico, earned individual medalist honors as YSU matched the single-season school record with its fifth tournament victory of the season at the YSU Spring Invitational, which concluded on Monday at Trumbull Country Club in Warren, Ohio.

Peña Anaya claimed the third individual tournament win of her career at the YSU Spring Invitational with a two-round score of 149 (74-75). The sophomore carried a four-shot lead into Monday's final round after a two-over-par 74 on Sunday that featured 14 pars and one birdie. Peña Anaya's second-round 75 included nine pars and three birdies as she fired an even-par 36 on the back nine.

Peña Anaya, who collects the second weekly Horizon League honor of her career, has now earned four top 10 finishes in 2025-26 after being named the Horizon League Freshman of the Year in 2024-25.

Youngstown State will continue its spring schedule on April 17-18 with the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational at The Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
