Harahan, La. — Youngstown State's bowling team posted its best set of the season and picked up a pair of victories on the opening day of the 2025 Colonial Lanes Classic on Friday. The three-day event is being hosted by Tulane.
The Penguins are 11th in the field with five more matches of qualifying on Saturday as play shifts to the traditional format.
Friday's Baker action was highlighted by an 1,152-1,112 victory over No. 7 North Carolina A&T. That was the highest set of the young season for the Penguins, topping the previous best Baker mark of 1,077 at the Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic.
Youngstown State's other victory came in its second match, a 964-829 decision over Texas Southern. In the other matches, YSU fell 1,032-848 to No. 9 Louisiana Tech, 987-892 to No. 19 Tulane and 1,112-951 to No. 3 Vanderbilt.
Saturday's matches will begin at 9:55 a.m. Eastern, and Tulane is streaming every pair at Colonial Lanes on its YouTube channel, TUGreenWave.
