Prajunpanich Posts Fifth Top Five Performance as Penguins Finish Fifth at Lady Blue Hen Invitational

Rehoboth Beach, Del. -- Junior Neeranuch Prajunpanich tied for third individually to lead the Youngstown State women's golf team to a fifth-place finish in Delaware's Lady Blue Hen Invitational, which concluded on Sunday from Rehoboth Beach Country Club.

The Penguins concluded the two-day, 54-hole event with a three-round total of 890 (+26) to finish tied for fifth on the team leaderboard. YSU opened its final tournament of the fall season with single-round team scores of 296 (+8) and 294 (+6) in the first two rounds, respectively, on Saturday. The Guins recorded a 300 (+12) in the third and final round on Sunday to finish in the top five as a team for the sixth straight event to begin the 2025-26 season.

Prajunpanich finished tied for third on the individual leaderboard at two over par for the tournament with a three-round score of 218 (73-68-77) to claim her fifth top five performance in six events this fall. The junior's four-under-par 68 in Saturday's second round featured 15 pars and a pair of birdies.

Sofia Perez Escarcena and Maddi Shoults each finished tied for 21st with a three-round total of 224. Perez Escarcena carded rounds of 76 and 72 on Saturday before closing her fall season with a final-round 76. The sophomore's even-par 72 in the second session included 10 pars and four birdies.

Shoults opened the event with rounds of 73 and 78 on Saturday before turning in another 73 on Sunday. The senior's first-round 73 featured 13 pars and two birdies while her final-round 73 included 12 pars and three birdies.

Valentina Peña Anaya finished tied for 35th with a three-round score of 228 (78-76-74). The sophomore's final-round 74 featured 13 pars and a pair of birdies. Maureen Burns finished the tournament with a three-round total of 241 (74-80-87). The redshirt freshman's career-low 74 in the first round included 10 pars and three birdies.

Delaware claimed its home tournament title with a three-round total of 875 (+11), finishing eight strokes ahead of runner-up Georgetown. Harvard and Dartmouth each finished tied for third at 23 over par while YSU tied with Yale for fifth place at 26 over par.

Harvard's Vanessa Zhang earned individual medalist honors at six under par with a three-round score of 210 (67-72-71) while Delaware's Rhianna Gooneratne was the runner-up with a 217 (77-69-71).

Youngstown State will begin the spring portion of its 2025-26 season on Feb. 9-10 with The Oyster Shuck Match Play event at Charleston Municipal Golf Course in Charleston, S.C.
