The Youngstown State women's golf team was picked first in the 2025 Under Armour Horizon League Women's Golf Preseason Poll after a vote of the league's head coaches, the league announced on Thursday. The Penguins received a total of 62 points and six of a possible eight first-place votes.

Oakland was picked second with two first-place votes and 56 points while Purdue Fort Wayne received 49 points to be tabbed third. IU Indianapolis garnered 39 points to come in fourth while Green Bay was fifth with 35 points. Northern Kentucky received 24 points to be slotted sixth while Cleveland State (14 points) and Detroit Mercy (11 points) were picked seventh and eighth, respectively, in the poll.

The Penguins return a pair of All-Horizon League picks from last season's team that finished as the runner-up at the Horizon League Championships. Reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year Neeranuch Prajunpanich was a First-Team All-Horizon League selection last season while senior Lizzie Saur was a Second-Team All-Horizon League honoree. Prajunpanich placed second at the league meet last season to earn a spot on the Horizon League All-Tournament Team while Saur finished tied for eighth.

YSU was victorious in three of its five tournaments during the fall portion of the 2024-25 season. The Penguins won the season-opening YSU Kickoff (Sept. 2), the Roseann Schwartz Invitational (Sept. 22-23) and the Butler Fall Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1).

Youngstown State will begin the spring portion of its 2024-25 season Feb. 8-9 with the Columbia Classic at Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Fla. The 2025 Horizon League Golf Championships will take place April 19-21 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.
