Muncie, Ind. - The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 contest to Ball State on Friday night at the Northwest YMCA in Muncie.

The Penguins won the doubles points while Yeseniia Ovcharova and Julia Marko picked up singles wins. The Cardinals earned straight set wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles and three-set victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to rally for the victory.

In doubles, YSU picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2. At No. 2, Lili Minich and Ovcharova won 6-4 while Ball State won 6-2 at No. 2. Lorena Cedeno and Marko clinched the point with a 7-6 (2) win.

In singles, Marko won her match at No. 1 7-6, 6-1 while Ovcharova won 6-4, 6-2.

The Penguins return to action next Friday when they play host to Western Michigan. First serve is set for 11 a.m. at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
