The Youngstown State women's tennis team opens Horizon League play against Cleveland State on Saturday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. First serve against the Vikings is set for 11 a.m.
The Penguins (3-8) were last in action on March 17 when they picked up a 5-2 victory over Duquesne.
Cleveland State enters the match with a 9-6 overall record which includes victories in its two most recent matches.
Last year, the Vikings claimed the HL regular-season title while the Penguins won the postseason crown.
This meeting at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center marks the fourth straight time the programs have played in Youngstown. CSU won the regular-season finale last year while the Guins won a pair of contests in the spring of 2021 during the unique COVID-19 scheduled campaign.
In the non-league portion of the season, Moka Ito and Cecilia Rosas tied for the team lead with five wins in singles play. In doubles play, Rosas and Lili Minich teamed up to go 4-0 while Eliska Masarkiova and Elisa Rigazio own a 4-3 record.
