Raleigh, N.C. – Ryan Meadows set the school record in the 5,000m run to highlight the Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams opening meet at the NC State Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility.
On Thursday evening, Meadows ran a time of 14:02.34 to break the previous mark of 14:19.19 which was set by Hunter Christopher at last year's Raleigh Relays.
Also for the men in the 5,000m, Tyler Clark ran a time of 14:40.21, which was a personal best in the event. In the 1,500m, Ty Coon clocked a time of 3:59.
For the women on Friday, Malena Cybak clocked a personal-best time of 4:40.98 in the 1,500m which was the eighth-fastest in school history. In the 5,000m, Morgan Cole clocked a time of 16:53.78.
The Penguins will have a busy stretch next week. YSU will send athletes to four separate meets – the Slippery Rock Dave Labor Invitational, the William & Mary Colonial Relays, the Texas State Bobcat Invitational and the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
