Box Score The Youngstown State women's tennis team used a strong all-around effort to beat Buffalo on Friday afternoon at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins (2-3) claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 and picked up straight-set singles wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 to hand the Bulls (5-1) their first defeat of the season.
YSU won the first completed doubles match at No. 1 as Elisa Rigazio and Eliska Masarikova won 6-4. After the Bulls drew even, the Guins claimed the point with a 6-4 victory by Lili Minich and Line Greyling.
In singles play, Moka Ito won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3, Cecilia Rosas picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4, Jessica Stanmore had a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 5 and Masarikova rounded out the victory parade with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) win at No. 2.
The Penguins return to action on Saturday when they play host to Ball State. First serve for the match against the Cardinals is 2 p.m.
