The Youngstown State women's tennis team was tabbed the favorite to win the 2023 Horizon League title by the coaches, the league announced on Thursday.
YSU, the 2022 Horizon League postseason champion, was picked to finish first just ahead of Cleveland State, the 2022 Horizon League regular-season champion. The Penguins had 45 points and four first-place votes to CSU's 42 points and two first-place votes. League newcomer Chicago State earned the other first-place nod.
Oakland was picked third, Northern Kentucky was tabbed fourth while Chicago State, Milwaukee and IUPUI rounded out the seven teams.
The Horizon League Championships are set for April 28-30 in Ann Arbor, Mich.Â
YSU opens the season on Jan. 27 when it plays host to Toledo at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
