INDIANA, Pennsylvania – The Youngstown State track and field program picked up two event wins while posting numerous top marks on Sunday at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Ed Fry Invitational.
Running a personal-best time of 4:46.87, Ashleigh Rowley finished atop the leaderboard in the women's 1500m run.
Jessica Stever posted a personal-best 5.83m long jump en route a first-place finish in the event.
Field Highlights
The Penguins tabbed two top-5 finishes in the women's triple jump with Nia Williams-Matthews (11.20m) posting a second place finish and Stephanie Simon (10.85m) finishing fifth.
Posing as the Penguins' sole entry in the event, Tye Hunt earned a bronze in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.78m.
Earning a second place finish in the men's shot put, Zach Gray tallied the first of his two top-5 finishes on the day, posting a 16.09m mark in the event. Posting a 48.97m mark in the men's hammer throw, Gray went on to finish fifth. Just behind, teammate Dominic Perry threw 47.26m to earn seventh place in the event.
Sammy Dyson posted a runner-up finish in the women's discus throw, posting a 41.87m mark. Freshman teammate Emily Wolf also found herself finishing inside the top-4 in the event, finishing fourth with a throw of 40.87m.
Cambrie Campbell eclipsed the personal-best throw (39.96m) she set just seven days ago at the Northeast Ohio Quad, throwing a 40.64m to earn a runner up finish in the women's javelin.
The Penguins tallied two top-4 finishes in the women's shot put, led by Kaitlyn Merwin with a mark of 13.38m to finish third. Lauren Sheehan finished fourth with a personal-best throw of 13.10m.
Running Highlights
Starting off strong, the Penguins posted three top-4 times in the women's 1500m run. Behind Rowley, Lauren Dolak earned the bronze with a time of 4:52.97 and Aiamyia Dudley came in fourth, posting a 4:57.13.
Dolak posted two top-10 finishes on the day, posting a seventh place finish in the women's 800m dash with a time of 2:20.87.
On the men's side, YSU took four of the top-6 times in the 1500m run with each runner tallying a new personal best. Chase Easterling (3:57.61) took second, Ethan Sparks (3:58.33) came in third, Hunter Christopher (3:59.54) finished fifth and Ryan Meadows (4:00.34) rounded out the Penguins' fleet with a sixth place finish.
Clocking a personal-best 18:29.73, Julia Magliocca posts a top-5 finish in the women's 5000m run. Just behind, teammate Mackenzie Scott finished sixth place with an 18:34.12.
Logan Franczkowski represented the Penguins' best finisher in the women's 100m dash, posting a fifth place finish with a time personal-best time of 12.37. Teammate Alexis Prater finished eighth in the event, clocking a 12.81. Adding to her successful day, Franczkowski posted another top-5️ finish in the women's 200m-dash, finishing fourth with a personal-best time of 25.76.
Mara Wilson clocked a personal-best 1:05.60 in the women's 400m hurdles to take second place in the event, adding another top finish for the Guins on the day.
Alex Lagaras (1:58.77) and Ty Coon (1:59.77 – personal best) added a pair of top-5 finishes for YSU in the men's 800m run, finishing second and fourth in the event.
