Various members of the Youngstown State women's golf team have been competing in summer tournaments over the last few weeks. Below are highlights from the team's summer competition thus far.

Reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year Puthita Khuanrudee carded a three-round total of 220 (75-70-75) to finish tied for 31st out of 84 golfers at the Singha-SAT Thai LPGA Championship on July 10-12. She finished an impressive four-over par for the tournament against a very strong field at Singha Park Khon Kaen Golf Club in Khon Kaen, Thailand. Khuanrudee, a First-Team All-Horizon League selection in 2018-19, will be part of a strong group of returners for the Penguins in 2019-20.

Incoming freshman Danae Rugola won the WPGA Girls' Match Play Invitational at Latrobe Country Club in Latrobe, Pa., on July 9. The Uniontown, Pa., native won the championship match 1-up over Paige Scott. Rugola won her opening-round match 7 and 6 before defeating fellow YSU recruit and Wexford, Pa., native Christina Lewis 1-up in the semifinals.

Allison St. Clair, another incoming freshman from West Salem, Ohio, fired an even-par round of 72 to win the Northern Ohio PGA Junior Series Event on June 27 at Barberton Brookside Country Club in Norton, Ohio. Rugola, Lewis and St. Clair make up a talented signing class who will join the program this fall.

The Penguins are scheduled to open the 2019-20 season on Sept. 3-4 with the Roseann Schwartz Invitational at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
