Las Vegas, Nev. - The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win over UC Riverside on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

YSU won the doubles point and then split the six singles matches against the Highlanders.

The Penguins opened doubles play with a 6-3 win at No. 3 by Ana Stroe and Tamara Teufl. YSU clinched the point on a 7-6 win at No. 1 by Noelly Longi Nsimba and Sofia Macias.

In singles play, Nsmiba, Macias and Teufl all recorded straight set wins. At No. 1, Nsimba won 6-3, 6-1 over Karla Dulay. At No. 2, Macias won 6-2, 6-2 over Sara Khattab. Teufl's win at No. 5 claimed the dual win for the Penguins as she beat Lauren Wolfe 6-4, 7-6.

After playing their first eight contests on the road, YSU plays its first home match of the year on Friday against Niagara. First serve at the Boardman Tennis Center is set for 12:30 p.m.
