Irvine, Calif. - The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Villanova on Monday at the UC Irvine Tennis Stadium.

YSU (5-6) won all three doubles matches and won four of the six single contests against the Wildcats.

At No. 1 doubles, Ana Stroe and Noelly Nsimba won 6-2, at No. 2 doubles, Sofia Macias and Imaan Hassim won 6-4 and at No. 3 doubles, Nehel Sahni and Monique Beloukovic won 7-5.

In singles play, Macias, Hassim, Sahni and Stroe all earned victories. Macias won 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 2, Hassim won a pair of tiebreakers 7-6, 7-6 at No. 3, Sahni cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 and Stroe earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5.

The Penguins return to action on Friday when they take on UC Irvine.
