East Lansing, Mich. - Youngstown State junior tennis player Noelly Nsimba earned a win in her first match of the main draw at the ITA Midwest Regionals on Saturday. Nsimba then dropped a tough three-set match to top seed Brienne Minor.
In her first match of the day, Nsimba defeated Syndey Rider of Wisconsin by a 6-1, 6-4 margin. In her round of 32 match against Minor, she lost 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
Nsimba posted a solid 4-1 mark in her appearances at the ITA Midwest Regionals in 2016.
The Penguins are next in action on Nov. 4 when they play host to the YSU Invitational at the Boardman Tennis Center.
