YSU's cross country teams ran season-best and personal-best times on Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. en route to beating several Horizon League foes. The women's team placed tenth while the men's team finished in 17th place.

Women's Results
Samantha Hamilton led the way for the Guins for the fourth consecutive time this season, placing 32nd overall with a time of 18:33. With a personal-best time of 18:53, Anna Pompeo finished in 46th place; she was followed by Nelly Yegon in a time of 18:59. Crossing the line in personal-best times, Christina Oles finished in 19:24 and Brittany Stockmaster clocked in just three seconds later at 19:27 to round off YSU's top five finishers. Katie Heney was also right behind Stockmaster, completing the course in a personal-best 19:31.

The women's team scored 280 points to finish tenth out of 20 teams, their highest finish at the meet in ten years and an improvement from last year's 17th-place finish. The squad was 20 points ahead of Oakland University, last year's Mid Con Conference Champions. Additionally, they beat Horizon League foes Valparaiso (447) by 167 points, UIC (459) by 179 points, Wisconsin-Green Bay (501) by 221 points, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee (535) by 255 points.  

Men's Results
Eric Rupe continues to lead the men's team this season, placing 68th overall in a season-best time of 26:24. The freshmen duo of Nick Gliha and Austin McLean finished in season-best times of 26:55 and 26:58, respectively. Brandon Pasvanis clocked in at 28:13 while Aron Korir finished in 29:51.  

The men's team also beat Valparaiso and Wisconsin-Green Bay on their way to a 17th-place finish. The team scored 502 points overall; 53 points ahead of Valparaiso (555) and 107 points ahead of Wisconsin-Green Bay (609).

Both teams return to action on Oct. 15 for the Bowling Green Invitational at Bowling Green State University.
