Opening Kick
The Youngstown State women's soccer team returns home to take on in-state foe Kent State in the 2026 home opener, Sunday, Aug. 20. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field in Youngstown, Ohio. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
The Matchup
This is the17th meeting between Youngstown State and Kent State in a series that dates back to 1997. The Golden Flashes own a 13-2-1 advantage in the all-time series and defeated the Penguins, 5-1, in the last meeting on Aug. 28, 2025, in Kent, Ohio. In the last meeting at Farmers National Bank Field, the Penguins and Golden Flashes battled to a 2-2 draw on Aug. 18, 2024. Youngstown State won the first game in the all-time series, 1-0, on Sept. 10, 1997, in Kent, Ohio. The next Penguins victory was a 1-0 triumph on Sept. 8, 2022, at Farmers National Bank Field.
About Kent State
Kent State enters the game with an overall record of 2-0-0 defeating Horizon League member Cleveland State, 3-0, on Aug. 13 and falling to Kentucky, 5-2, on Aug. 17. Five different players have scored goals for the Golden Flashes this season. Goalkeeper Emma Klein owns a save percentage of .722 and has a combined shutout.

The Penguins dropped their second straight contest falling to Big Ten member Indiana, 3-1, on Aug. 16 in Bloomington, Ind. Sophomore Ghita Haouzi scored her first career goal to lead the Penguins. Goalkeeper Kendall Sears tallied a career-high seven saves.
Guins Have Experience
Youngstown State returns 19 letterwinners and six starters from last year's squad that finished third in the Horizon League with a 6-2-2 conference mark, and the Penguins added 16 newcomers, including five transfers, for the upcoming campaign.
Haouzi Notches First Career Goal
Sophomore Ghita Haouzi scored her first career goal on her first career shot on goal in the Penguins' 3-1 loss to Indiana on Aug. 16. Haouzi missed all of the 2025 season due to injury.
Scoring Threats Return
Last season, the Penguins posted the most goals scored (29), assists (24), and points (82) against an exclusively Division I schedule in program history. Youngstown State returns its top four scorers and 82.8 percent of its goals scored, 66.7 percent of its assists, and 78 percent of its total points scored from that squad.
Felder Among Scoring Leaders
Senior Sara Felder has scored 12 goals in 40 career games played and ranks tied for fifth on the Youngstown State all-time goals scored list. Felder is the eight Youngstown State player to score at least 12 goals in a career. She also has scored 27 total points and needs two more to move into a tie for 10th place.
Rosa Rising
Sophomore Kamryn Rosa posted one of the best freshman campaigns in school history during the 2025 season. Rosa posted seven goals with two assists for 16 total points. Her seven goals were tied for the third most by a YSU freshman and the most since 2011. Rosa's 16 points rank tied for third on the freshman list and are the most since 2010.
The French Connection
Senior Camille Bultel turned in an impressive first season at Youngstown State in 2025. Bultel was named All-Horizon League Third Team after scoring four goals with four assists for 12 points.
Four in Doubles=School Best
Last year, four different players scored at least 10 points in season for the first time in program history. Senior Sara Felder led the team with 19 points while Kamryn Rosa poured in 16 points. Camille Bultel and Baylee Williams added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Williams Posted Solid Rookie Campaign
Sophomore Baylee Williams turned in outstanding freshman campaign in 2025. Williams appeared in all 20 games and made a pair of starts. She tallied four goals with two assists for 10 total points. Williams was credited with 15 shots and 11 shots on goal.
