Athletic Bands
The Youngstown State University Athletic Bands, comprised of talented musicians in the Marching Pride and Pep Band, are some of the most visible organizations on campus. They add a spirited flavor to the atmosphere at Stambaugh Stadium and inside Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center. All YSU students have the opportunity to perform in the Athletic Bands, regardless of major.
In recent years, YSU's Athletic Bands have performed at several Power Four conference football games, Progressive Field and Rocket Arena. The Marching Pride is annually one of the primary features of YSU's Homecoming Parade, and it performs the "
"Icebreaker" pregame outside the Souteast corner of Stambaugh Stadium 75 minutes before kickoff of each home football game. The Athletic Bands also welcomes area high school marching bands during football season, and high school band members are invited to join the Pep Band for the annual Jam the Gym event each basketball season.
