Green Bay, Wis. – Senior Emma Berdiner and fifth-year Elena Zuchowski each scored their first goals of the season but the Youngstown State women's soccer team comeback attempt against Green Bay fell short, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Festival Foods Field at Aldo Santaga Stadium.

The Penguins fall to 4-9-4 overall and 4-2-2 in the Horizon League while the Phoenix improve to 11-1-3 overall and 6-1-1 in league action.

The Phoenix took a 1-0 lead at the 6:02 mark but 38 seconds later Zuchowski knotted the game at 1-1. From the right wing, Kamryn Rosa found Camille Bultel just inside the 18, and Bultel slid a touch pass to the left side to an open Zuchowski. The Wales, Wis., native's left-footer found the lower-left of the game with the game-tying score.

Green Bay added goals in the 14th and 45th minutes to take a 3-1 lead into the lockerroom.

Off a Zuchowski free kick into the box, freshman Mia Deramo slipped a pass past the Green Bay goalkeeper and Berdiner's back-heeled right-footer trickled into the open goal to cut the lead down to 3-2 at the 74:43 mark.

Green Bay was able to hang on over the final 15 minute for the win.

Youngstown State returns home to host Horizon League newcomer Northern Illinois, Thursday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
