Penguins Battle Golden Flashes to 1-1 Draw

Youngstown, Ohio – The Youngstown State women's soccer team scored in the 41st minute to knot the game and settled for a 1-1 tie against Kent State on Thursday evening at Farmers National Bank Field.
The Penguins move to 0-2-1 on the year while the Golden Flashes are now 1-1-1 on the season.
Kent State got on the board first in the 17th minute of the game when Jules Dolinski knocked in a rebound in the top right for a 1-0 lead.
Senior Autumn Fairfax scored her first goal as a Penguin to tie game at 1-1 at the 40:28 mark of the game. Fifth-year Elena Zuchowski lofted a free kick on the left side of the six and Fairfax elevated over the Golden Flashes defenders, and her header found the right corner of the net.
Fairfax led the Penguins with three shots while Jenna Tufo had two shots. The Penguins were outshot, 16-11, but held the advantage in shots on goal, 4-3.
Goalkeeper Kendall Sears posted two saves in the draw.
Youngstown State hosts Eastern Kentucky, Sunday, Aug. 23. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
