Youngstown, Ohio – Senior forward Sara Felder became just the fourth player in school history to score at least 15 career goals, but the Youngstown State women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 draw against Northern Illinois on Thursday evening at Farmers National Bank Field.
The Penguins move to 4-9-5 overall and 4-2-3 in Horizon League play while the Huskies improve to 4-7-4 overall and 3-4-2 in conference action.
After a scoreless first half, Felder gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute with her fourth goal of the season.
Junior Leah Weiland intercepted a low line-drive goal kick just on the Huskie side of midfield and placed a through ball past the NIU backline.
Felder beat the defenders to the ball and chipped a one-timer over a charging NIU goalie for the go-ahead score.
The Huskies, who outshot the Penguins, 22-16, rallied to knot the game at 1-1 after scoring in the 68th minute.
Goalkeeper Kendall Sears recorded three saves for the Penguins.
Youngstown State plays its regular-season home finale against IU Indy, Sunday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
