
Ghita Haouzi Scores First Career Goal in 3-1 Loss at Indiana

Bloomington, Ind. – Youngstown State sophomore Ghita Haouzi scored her first career goal, and the Youngstown State women's soccer team put forth another gutsy effort but dropped a 3-1 decision to Big Ten member Indiana on Sunday afternoon at Jerry Yeagley Field.
The Penguins fall to 0-2-0 on the year while the Hoosiers improve to 2-0-0 on the season.
Indiana jumped out to a 1-0 lead after a Kennedy Neighbors goal in the sixth minute and took that lead into the lockerroom at halftime.
Just 2:22 into the second half, Aleyna Quinn scored to extend the Indiana lead to 2-0 in the 48th minute.
The Penguins cut the deficit in half, 2-1, in the 58th minute. Senior Camille Bultel laced a through ball down the right side and found a streaking Haouzi. Haouzi beat the IU defenders and sent a right-footer into the top left for her first goal of the year.
The Hoosiers tacked on an insurance goal at the 73:00 mark and held on for the win.
Freshman goalkeeper Kendall Sears faced 18 shots and tallied a career-high seven saves.
Youngstown State hosts Kent State in the 2026 home opener, Thursday, Aug. 20. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.at Farmers National Bank Field.
