The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams head to Florida and Pennsylvania for a pair of meets starting on Friday.
On Friday and Saturday, YSU will have athletes competing at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational at Cobb Stadium in Coral Gables, Fla. On Saturday, 25 distance runners are set to compete in various events at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa.
Field events take center stage on Friday in Miami with the Hammer Throw, Pole Vault, Discus and Long Jump all being contested. The men's hammer throw is the first event to start the day, which is set for 11 a.m.
On Saturday, the javelin is the first individual event of the day at 10 a.m. The high jump is set for 1 p.m. with running events beginning at 2:20 p.m.
YSU last competed at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational in 2024. Penguins who competed at the meet that will be there in 2026 are Melody Harloff, Melana Schumaker, Ainsley Hamsher, Kaitlyn Eger, Daisha Decree, Micah Mitchell, Connor Durig and Lukas Lang.
At Bucknell, the group of 25 men's and women's athletes will all run on Saturday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The women will be represented in four disciplines with the men running in five.
Last year for the women, Jenna Razavi, Caleigh Richards, Carly Hall, Megan Stafford and Lillian Katsaras competed at Bucknell. For the men, Owen Brady, Josh Jones, Connor Shingleton, Beau Gorby and Thomas Hunyadi all ran in Lewisburg.
