Youngstown State's Sage Vavro and Kaitlyn Eger were named Under Armour #HLTF Outdoor Athletes of the Week following standout performances at the Raleigh Relays last week.
Vavro was named the men's runner of the week while Eger was selected as the women's field athlete of the week.Â
On Thursday, Vavro set the school record in the steeplechase running a time of 8:47.06 at the Raleigh Relays. The previous school mark of 8:49.25 had stood since May 2009 while Vavro's previous best time in the event was 9:08.65. Overall, he finished a strong 15th place out of 75 athletes in the race.
Eger won the pole vault at the Raleigh Relays with a career-best outdoor clearance of 4.02m. It was first outdoor event victory of her career. Her previous outdoor best was 3.85m which came in May 2024.
The Guins are back in action this Friday and Saturday when they head to the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock.
