Eugene, Oregon – Youngstown State's Tye Hunt and Hunter Christopher will compete for national event championships at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at historic Hayward Field this week.
Hunt is one of 24 finalists in the long jump and is set to compete at 8:40 p.m. Eastern/5:40 p.m. Pacific time on Wednesday. Christopher is one of 24 runners to advance to the 5,000m finals which will be ran on Friday at 9:55 p.m. Eastern/6:55 p.m. Pacific.
The long jump will be exclusively on Watch ESPN while the 5K will be on ESPN2 and Watch ESPN.
It marks the fourth straight time that YSU has sent two athletes to Eugene for the national meet and the third time in four years that two men's athletes have advanced. For every time the meet has been held since 2016, Youngstown State has had a representative.
Hunt will be in Flight 1 of the long jump and will compete at the same time as Flight 2, but on a different runway. All 24 athletes will get three attempts with the top nine advancing to earn three more jumps.
His season-best is 7.92m and he had a mark of 7.48m to advance out of the NCAA East Prelims.
Christopher will face an impressive field in the 5,000m to close out the meet on Friday. He is the second men's distance runner to make the NCAA Championships joining Sean Peterson in 2022.
