The Youngstown State women's track and field team picked up their 10th title in 11 years and 16th overall following a solid all-around final day at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships held in sunny Youngstown.
YSU finished with 190.5 overall points to finish ahead of Milwaukee (148), Purdue Fort Wayne (129), Oakland (94) and Robert Morris (86). The Penguins were able to regain the team championship after finishing second to the Panthers in 2024.
Winning events on Sunday were Mariah Day (100m) and Nia Williams-Matthews (triple jump). Day's win the 100m kept the Penguins' streak of 14 straight titles in the event dating back to 2010.
In the triple jump, Williams-Matthews won with a leap of 12.25m. It was the second career HL triple jump titled for Williams-Matthews who took first in 2023 at YSU.
Day claimed the first Horizon League title of her career in a thrilling 100m victory. She posted a time of 11.71 seconds to win the race by 0.06 seconds.
In the 200m, Melody Harloff placed fourth with a time of 24.35 seconds while Day was fifth at 24.42 seconds. In the 400m, Harloff finished second with a time of 55.41 seconds.
In the 5,000m, Caleigh Richards was fourth with a time of 17:25.66 while Jenna Razavi took fifth at 17:25.84.
In the hammer throw, Molly Radcliffe ended her collegiate career by finishing third with a throw of 52.36m and Krista Perry placed fifth with a toss of 52.04m. In the high jump, Kalli Knoble was fourth with a mark of 1.63m.
McKinley Fielding took third in the 1,500m with a time of 4:27.41.
Emily Bee capped off a busy meet with a second-place performance in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.52 seconds while Lea Parham was sixth.
For her all-around performance at the league meet, Day was named the Outstanding Field Freshman of the Meet. Head Coach Brian Gorby was named the League's Coach of the Year.
