Slippery Rock, Pa. – Ava Littler (women's 100m hurdles) and Noah Crozier (men's high jump) captured event wins for the men's and women's track and field athletes who were in action at the SRU John Papa Invitational on Thursday.
Littler won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.44 seconds. Finishing second was Lea Parham with a time of 14.63 seconds. Parham also finished second in the 400m hurdles clocking a time 1:06.89.
Mone Knowles registered a fourth-place finish with a time of 25.53 seconds in the 200m dash. In the 5000m, Molly Yasnowski was fifth running a 19:23.72.
Crozier spearheaded a 1-2 YSU finish in the high jump. He won the event with a clearance of 2.05m while Connor Durig was second at 2.00m.
Willam Delbaugh clocked a time of 49.34 seconds which just missed being the top time in the 400m as he came in second. Teziah Howard posted a time of 49.70 seconds.
Garret Tiller came in second place in the 200m dash with a time of 21.50 seconds. He was also fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.89 seconds. In the 200m, Joseph Owusu-Ansah came in fifth at 21.90 seconds.
Molly Hopple was third in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:50.48. Abbigail Scleicher was fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.45.
In the field events, Andrew Frank was third in the long jump with a leap of 7.13m.
Krista Perry was a second-place finisher in the discus with a toss of 43.84m. She also finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 51.30m while Lauren Sheehan was fifth at 49.04m. Olivia Mason took third in the shot put with a toss of 13.59m while for the men, Dominic Brown tied for second with a toss of 16.38m. India Bailey was fifth in the javelin with a throw of 36.62m.
The Penguins will have athletes in action tomorrow at the Virginia Challenge while Ryan Meadows and Hunter Christopher will run the 5K at the Wake Forest Invitational.
