Evanston, Ill. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team battled against No. 65 Northwestern on Saturday evening at the Combe Tennis Center, falling to the Wildcats, 4-0.
The Penguins won earlier in the day at Chicago State and come home from their two-match Chicago trip at 11-6 overall and 3-0 in Horizon League play.
In doubles, the Wildcats won at No. 2 and No. 3 by scores of 6-2.
In singles, Northwestern won in straight sets at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 to clinch the contest.
At No. 1, Onder Balci dropped a hard-fought first set by a score of 7-6 (8-6). At No. 6, Chester Wickwire won his first set 6-2 and had a 4-3 advantage in the second set. At No. 3, William Rassat lost his first set before leading 4-3 in the second set.
The Penguins play a big Horizon League match at Cleveland State on Wednesday evening.
