The Youngstown State men's tennis team plays host to former Horizon League foe UIC on Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins are 6-0 to start the year which ties the school best dual start set in 1978 and 1980. UIC enters the weekend with a 4-2 record. The Flames will play West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
Both teams were previously scheduled to play Niagara on Saturday but forecasted weather issues caused the Purple Eagles to cancel their trip south.
This spring, William Rassat is 5-1 while Mihai Haita is 5-0 since joining the program in January. YSU has had great depth this spring with at least eight players winning three matches so far this year.
YSU has won five straight against the Flames, including a win in the semifinals in the Horizon League semifinals in 2022. That was the last meeting between the programs before UIC moved to the Missouri Valley Conference.
