Fort Wayne, Ind. – Freshman Kamryn Rosa scored in the game's first minute and the Youngtown State women's soccer team held on for a 1-0 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday night.

The Penguins, who are now unbeaten in their last four games, improve to 4-8-2 overall and 3-1-2 in Horizon League play while the Mastodons fall to 1-11-1 overall and 0-5 in league action.

Sophomore Teagan Wahle gathered a loose ball outside the left of the box and centered into the six. Rosa's header found the high center of the net for her fifth goal of the season. Rosa's five goals are the most since Elis Klein Spindola had five in 2022, and the most by a YSU freshman since Marcella Sizer had five in 2019.

The Penguins outshot the Mastodons, 14-5, and were led by senior Chloe Weiland with three attempts.

Goalkeeper Maya Naimoli recorded her second shutout of the season and tallied one save.

Youngstown State faces IU Indy, Sunday, Oct. 12, Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Indianapolis, Ind.
