Olean, N.Y. – The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up an impressive 7-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Sunday afternoon at the SBU Tennis Center.
The Penguins improved to 2-0 on the young season while the Bonnies drop to 0-3.
YSU earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2, William Rassat and Onder Balci won 6-3 and at No. 3, Fliip Avdeev and Mihai Haita won 6-4.
In singles, Balci won his match at No. 1 singles by a 6-0, 7-5 margin. At No. 2, Rassat won in three sets rallying for a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 win. At No. 3, Avdeev cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Ethan Dasset earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles. Chester Wickwire stepped in the lineup and picked up a 6-3, 7-5 triumph at No. 5. At No. 6, Alex Woiten won his first set 6-2, before claiming a win by retirement.
YSU heads to New England for two matches this coming week. The Guins visit Bryant on Friday and Boston on Sunday.
