Youngstown State's Onder Balci won the A Draw Singles title that YSU Invitational which was held on Saturday and Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
Balci capped off a perfect tournament run with a pair of wins on Sunday. In his semifinal match he beat CWRU's Ajay Mahenthiran 6-1, 6-4. Just over 90 minutes later he returned to the court and beat Ansh Shah in the title match by a 7-5, 6-0 margin. On Saturday, he beat CWRU's Casey Hishinuma by a score of 6-4, 6-4.
Also in the A Draw, newcomer Filip Avdeev reached the semifinals but lost to Shah 7-5, 6-3.
In the C Draw, Takamasa Mishiro picked up a hard-fought 6-1, 7-6 (4) victory over Le Moyne's Jacob Maravilles before losing in the semifinals.
In consolation singles matches on Sunday, Will Rassat beat Duquesne's Aril Kayra Tuna by a score of 2-6, 6-2, 11-9.
The Penguins return to action on Friday and the WMU/Vredevelt Invitational.
