Eugene, Oregon – Youngstown State triple jumper Jakari Lomax had a strong effort in his U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trails debut placing 18th on a beautiful Friday evening at Hayward Field.
Lomax posted a mark of 15.46m on his second jump. He had an opening mark of 15.36m and was in eighth place after all 23 competitors completed their first try. On his third attempt, he fouled.
He was just the fourth overall YSU athlete to compete at the meet.
The top 12 jumpers advanced to the finals which are set for Sunday evening.
