Jakari Lomax Qualifies for 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials

One of the most decorated athletes in YSU Track and Field history, Jakari Lomax has earned a spot at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in the triple jump on June 28 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Lomax becomes just the fourth Penguin to earn qualifying status at the U.S. Trials.

Lomax was one of 24 athletes to earn a spot in the triple jump courtesy of his personal-best leap of 15.83m which he had on April 6 at the Miami Hurricanes Alumni Invitational.

He went on to win his fourth outdoor Horizon League title in May and advanced to the NCAA East Prelims for the third time in his career. At Lexington, Ky., he placed a career-best 27th with a leap of 15.44m. He won the HL title with a leap of 15.67m. Lomax also won five indoor Horizon League titles in the event.

He joins former Penguins Conner Neu, Sean Peterson and Colin Harden as the only U.S. Olympic Trial qualifiers in program history.
