Berea, Ohio – The Youngstown State men's track and field team collected – event wins at the Hillard Dillard Twilight on Friday at the George Finnie Stadium on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace.
Winning events for the Penguins were Ryan Henry (shot put), Dorian Chaigneau (pole vault), Harry Barton (400m hurdles).
The men had runner-up efforts in the shot, pole vault and high jump.
Henry won the shot put with a throw of 17.67m while Dominic Perry was just behind in second at 17.65m.
YSU took the top three spots in the pole vault as Dorian Chaigneau picked up the win with a best mark of 5.17m, Jack Vecellio was second with a mark of 5.02m and Lukas Lang took third at 4.92m.
In the high jump, Mason Stephens cleared 2.07m for the second straight meet and placed second at BW. Lonnie Harper had a best mark of 2.02m and finished in fourth place.
Barton set a meet record and had a career-best time of 51.30 seconds in the 400m hurdles to take first place. Late in the night, Blaze Fichter had a career-best time of 3:51.36 in the 1,500m. His time was the eight-best in school history.
Placing third in the discus was Coleson Kertesz with a throw of 50.56m which came on Thursday afternoon.
For the women, Melana Schumaker placed second in the pole vault clearing at 3.96m while Ainsley Hamsher took fourth at 3.71m.
The lone remaining athlete to compete for YSU this weekend is Hunter Christopher. Christopher will run the 5,000m late Saturday evening at the 2024 Track Fest in Los Angeles, Calif. His race is set to start at 9:05 p.m. Pacific/12:05 a.m. Eastern time.
