The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Bowling Green on Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Guins won the doubles point against the Falcons before picking up wins five singles matches. YSU won two contests in straight sets and claimed three more in three sets.
In doubles play, YSU took the point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Winning 6-2 at No. 3 were Julia Marko and Lorena Cedeno who claimed a 6-2 win. Winning at No. 2 to clinch the point were Lili Minich and Yeseniia Ovcharova by a score of 6-2 as well.
Cedeno picked up the first singles win at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph over Leticia Fonseca. Marko added a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles.
YSU had to work three sets to pick up three more wins. At No. 3, Elinor Beazley won the clinching match with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 win. At No. 6, Line Greyling battled for a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (6) win. In the third set, she trailed 6-5 in the tiebreaker before scoring the final three points. At No. 5, Ovcharova picked up a hard-fought 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-3 victory.
The Penguins return to action on Friday when they visit Ball State.
