Jacksonville, Fla. - Senior Jahniya Bowers finished 16th in the 100m dash as the YSU men's and women's track and field team concluded a successful trip to the NCAA East Prelims on Saturday evening at the Jax Track and Hodges Stadium.
Bowers, running in heat No. 3, posted a time of 11.29 seconds which was good enough for a 16th-place finish.Â
In the four-day session, YSU had a school-record three athletes advance to the NCAA Championships - Dorian Chaigneau (Men's Pole Vault), Erin Bogard (Women's Pole Vault) and Zach Gehm (Men's Discus). Of the 12 athletes YSU sent to Jacksonville, 10 finished in the top 22 of their respective events. Additionally, eight placed in the top 18.
Also, Bowers set a school record in the 100m dash with a time of 11.22 seconds on Thursday while Weston McLain set a school record in the javelin on Wednesday afternoon.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships will begin on June 7 in Austin, Texas.
