Rochester, Mich. – Youngstown State jumpers Nia Williams-Matthews and Lonnie Harper competed at the Oakland Last Chance Meet on Thursday evening.
Williams-Matthews won the triple jump with a leap of 12.36m ahead of second-place finisher Simone Green of Findlay. Williams-Matthews won the event on her third leap of the event.
Harper had a best effort of 2.03m which was good for second place. He cleared 2.00m on his final attempt and then was able to get over 2.03m on his first try. He tried for a season-best 2.06m, but failed on his three attempts. Unattached athlete Alex Hugh-Plott cleared 2.12m to earn victory.
Members of the Penguins will continue action at the Harrison Dillard Twilight on Friday.
